Homophobia | A Quesday Event with Marty Kantor
Events | Local | via [side]walk.talk
Tonight at Taka Restaurant in Downtown Asbury Park. Starts at 7pm.
Psychiatrist and author Martin Kantor will be giving a talk/discussion based on his 1998 book, Homophobia: Description, Development, and Dynamics of Gay Bashing, and his article “Coping among Victims of Sexual Prejudice and Discrimination”.
Homophobia is studied from a developmental perspective, showing how it originates in the homophobe’s early relationships. This work uses psychodynamic, interpersonal, existential, cognitive/behavioral, and supportive techniques to treat homophobes and to help gays and lesbians who are the recipients of the manifestations of this emotional disorder.
